Unlike its other outlets in Raffles Place and Mandarin Gallery, The Providore’s flagship store at Downtown isn’t just a quaint cafe to grab a quick lunch bite, but it’s also a contemporary retail space featuring a selection of wines, craft beers, and quality produce.

From the presentation to the sweet and creamy taste, choco lovers will absolutely love their selection of chocolate drinks here. In the same way that their regular coffee is served, the Hot Chocolate (S$6.50) is presented with an intricate latte art design as well as a stick of chocolate powder on the side for added sweetness.

If you wish to bring home the taste of The Providore’s hot chocolate with you, they have a variety of chocolate powders (from S$9.50) that you can purchase at the store itself.

Adding on to the list of Amoy Street gems is Dapper Coffee. The entrance of this cafe might seem slightly sketchy with the dodgy steps and dim lighting, but this place is a haven for all sorts of drinks—from coffee to cocktails.

While their coffee roasts are the main stars of the show here, their chocolate drinks are also worth mentioning.

The Hot Chocolate (S$7) may be on the pricier side, but its velvety taste and creamy texture will make it worth the splurge. If you’re looking for something a little more bitter, they even have a Bitter Cocoa (S$7) option that’s kind of like The Hot Chocolate’s evil older sister—in a good way!

In terms of aesthetics and flavour, Alchemist hits all the marks and is undoubtedly one of the best in Singapore’s coffee scene. With two locations conveniently located along Raffles Quay and Anson Road, CBD dwellers are probably already familiar with what Alchemist has to offer.

While their coffee is clearly one of their highlights, the hot chocolate (S$5) is actually a crowd favourite among regulars. Even with the velvet smooth texture of the cream, the thick chocolate flavour still stands out and leaves a comforting aftertaste as well.

Some have even dubbed it as a brownie in drink form!
